A day of preparation...

So, my next assessment is at the end of the month. And even though I'm NOT going to stress or become obsessive (as is my usual M.O.) but I am going to work hard and be more on the strict side. Which means I'm going to do my best to have NO CHEAT DAYS!! I have a friend who is going to be doing it with me and we'll be able to be support each other.

Today was a great day! I bought new sneakers and boxing gloves (Sean has plans to use them in future workouts...) and then I went to the grocery store and stocked up on fruits and healthy snacks. Isn't the summer great? So many yummy healthy options...

But now I need your help... I'm getting tired of my food routine. I need some new ideas (and please keep in mind that I don't really cook). I'm looking for some healthy, high protein snacks and some new meal ideas. The only big restriction is that I don't eat white flour or other processed carbs...

Thanks guys! Happy Monday!

How fun...new sneakers and boxing gloves! Bet you can't wait to get to the gym. ;) Actually, buying new stuff motivates me to get in there and try it out.

No cheat days...one month...you can do it! And even better that you have a partner to do it with you because you can help each other stay on track.

Some high protein ideas...Have you ever tried the Kashi Go Lean cereal? 1 cup has 13g protein, although I'm not really sure if that has white flour or processed carbs. What about almonds...I saw this new brand/flavor of almonds in a magazine and found them at the grocery store...they're awesome. Awesome because they are dark chocolate flavored and I LOVE chocolate! Even better because they have the same nutritional value as plain almonds. These new almonds I found are the brand Emerald, called Cocoa Roast Almonds.

Thanks for the great ideas!
I often use Kashi Go Lean cereal -- I put it into Light&Fit yoogurt. And almonds and craisins are a fave snack of mine... I'll have to check out the chocolate flavored ones :)

Someone else suggested greek yogurt... Has anyone else tried it?

Those little string cheese sticks have become a lifesaver for me. And I am addicted (like crack) to my snack mix of peanuts, raisins, and semisweet chocolate chips. :-)

Greek yogurt = instant spit-take. I did NOT like it. It was both a texture and a taste thing for me. But, some people love it, so try it once and see which camp you're in.

Thanks, Stef!

Maybe I should have a video camera on me when I try it and then I can post the results... that would make for an amusing entry.

Have a good one!
