Soliciting advice from the peanut gallery...

So here's the deal... Saturday is supposed to be my next fitness assessment. I've been working really hard on staying on track with the fitness and nutrition. And even though I feel great and am really proud of how hard I'm working, I'm fairly certain that I am not yet going to reach my weight loss goal that I had set for myself...

My question is... should I postpone my assessment until I've lost some more or should I go through with it and just take it as a piece of data on the journey? I'm afraid that getting bad results is going to be very discouraging, but isn't just delaying the assessment another excuse? And if I do postpone it, what happens if I'm no further along in a couple of weeks???

So what do you think?

okay...you have been doing good, feeling good and worried that you havent achieved what you had for a wt loss goal...so, 2 questions? 1) what if not only you reached that goal but higher than it and you don't weigh cuz you are not sure enough of yourself to do the assessment on Saturday...and 2) you don't reach the goal - probably an unrealistic goal to start with but you loss weight (a reasonable amount) ...is that so bad?
I say Go for it. you won't have gained weight and you may surprise yourself but even if it is a loss but not as much as you wanted, you should take that as a GREAT accomplishment.
You have come back after a lull and (self-professed) done well and feel good about how you have done - that is incredibly hard to do.

Go ahead with it. You know what you should be doing, so see what the assessment says about where you are and then change it up based on your results. Ask Shawn/your doctor for advice. Talk about where you are, and keep going. Putting it off will just increase the pressure you put on yourself later. :-)

Go for it! While having these goals is important, you know that you're really in this for the long run. You're changing your life for the better and forever -- one step at a time. Even if you don't hit your goal on Saturday, it's just a data point... just an assessment of where you are. It's not an evaluation -- you can't fail it! You know -- whether you hit this goal or not -- that in the long run every step you take moves you in the right direction and you're ALREADY better off for it!

In my opinion, I think you should go ahead with the assessment. You might not have met your goal BUT you set a goal, you worked really hard to meet your goal and you're happy with how you've been doing. We might not always meet our goal and that's ok...the great thing is that you set that goal and worked hard to achieve it. Just because you didn't reach it this time around, doesn't mean that you won't reach it at all.
So, I say take the assessment and continue on the trek.
You're doing great...keep it up!!! It's tough but that makes it that much more rewarding in the end.

I agree, do it and take it from there. It's better to know where you stand than to worry about it endlessly (I know, I come from the worry endlessly variety)!

Thanks guys for the support... I'm going to go ahead and do it and deal with the results as they come, whatever they are.

Just so people don't think I'm totally crazy, my goal for Saturday is not the entire 31 pounds on the ticker... that is one of my longer-term goals.

I'll let you know how things go :)
